The Owners and Staff
Tania Mahinda: President and Co-owner of The Dog Pad. Tania graduated from Cornell College with a Bachelor
of Arts in Biology and later received a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Science with emphasis in
Pharmacology from the University of Missouri. She has worked in the Pharmaceutical industry for over 10 years
coordinating, monitoring, and managing clinical trials on new investigational products.
Tania loves animals and it was her love for Lexi, a sweet Toy Fox Terrier, that led to the creation of The Dog Pad.
We decided it was finally time to start having some fun!!

Lexi: Vice President for Quality Assurance and Co-owner of The Dog Pad. Lexi is a Toy
Fox Terrier, born March 2, 2005 in Escondido, CA. We had the pleasure of meeting both
Lexi and her biological mom before we brought Lexi home and into our family, but we
knew she was the right one when we saw her. Despite a few scuffles now and then, Lexi
generally gets along really well with her brother and sisters (cats named PJ and Q-Tip,
and Sasha).
Lexi spends a lot of time in the kitchen with her mom (Tania), often standing patiently at
one end of the kitchen staring at the oven as the biscuits and treats bake within. She
loves being the first to taste the treats as the come out of the oven. Lexi loves to eat and
really enjoys her job at The Dog Pad.
A few years ago Lexi was diagnosed with Epilepsy. She is currently on a twice a day
regimen of both potassium bromide and Phenobarbital which controls her seizures
well. However, being on the medications increased her appetite and caused her to gain
a lot of weight. She is currently on a weight-control diet and we monitor her treat intake
as much as possible and try to feed her healthy snacks.
We had good news at the end of 2010. Lexi lost weight and we were able to reduce her
dose of potassium bromide and Phenobarbital. But, she still gets a bite or two of her
favorite treats from The Dog Pad, a taste of something special every once in a while...but
just a taste.

Sasha: The latest addition to The Dog Pad team. Also a Toy Fox Terrier, but with a serious
attitude. After much begging and pleading from Sasha, Lexi has allowed her to intern at The
Dog Pad in the hopes that she might develop the discipline to become one of The Dog Pad's
valued taste testers and a member of the Quality Assurance team. Sasha hopes to one day
be able to follow in Lexi's paws and become a key team member at The Dog Pad, however
she may have to work more diligently at giving up some of her daily distractions...toys, the
kitties, shoes, paper towel rolls, plants in the back yard, mom and dad's socks....

PJ: Oversees operations and keeps
the girls (Lexi, Sasha, and Q-Tip) in
line with a few swats when they start to
lose focus and decide they want to
nibble at his tail or run circles around
him. He doesn't take a lot of horseplay.
PJ is also a cancer survivor. There is
no doubting his strength after
everything he has been through.

Q-Tip: Also part of the Quality Assurance team making sure the treats look appetizing
and smell good. Every once in a while, she forgets she's a kittie and tries to take a
nibble off one of the dog treats.
